Lab Overview

Inter-generational funk connection. Legendary funk pioneer Steve Arrington has teamed up with Stones Throw's resident funk and boogie ambassador Dam-Funk to bring you the funk on a whole 'nother level. The appropriately titled Higher finds D-F laying down the funk proper on the beats while ex-Slave front man Steve Arrington blesses the mic on vocal duties for a match made in (funk) heaven. For those that don't know Mr. Arrington, you've probably heard his unique vocal style on Slave classics like "Watching You," and "Just A Touch of Love," as many of them have been sampled by everyone from Jay-Z, Jermaine Dupri, Tribe Called Quest, De La, Snoop and others. On Higher the Steve brings his sound to the 21st century with modern funk slappers like "I Be Goin Hard," "Tap That," "Blow Your Mind," "I Be Trippin," as well as a handful of grown and sexy burners like "Do You Feel Me," "Hear Me Knockin," and others.
