  • Highly sought-after Sun Ra rarity reissued by the good folks at Kindred Spirits. Originally released in 1974 on the El Saturn label, Antique Blacks features Sun Ra and The Arkestra at their most out and free, and surprisingly, their most accessible as well. It's a wonderful balance of styles recorded live in Philadelphia on August 17th, 1974. Check "Song No. 1" and "Space Is The Place" to hear some of Sun Ra's most soulful and grooving moments, while "The Ridiculous I And The Cosmos" and "Would I For All That Were" takes it far-out into the stratosphere. This back and forth continues throughout the album making for an especially interesting and pleasing listening experience. 2010 repress with remastered sound.
