Post-rock pioneers' critically acclaimed fourth album! While Talk Talk initially started as a synth-pop group in the early ‘80s, by the end of the decade the group had moved away from the use of synthesizers. Spirit of Eden epitomizes this departure, implementing elements of jazz, classical, blues, and ambient music into their art-rock palette. The six songs featured on the record–“The Rainbow,” “Eden,” “Desire,” “Inheritance,” “I Believe You,” and “Wealth”–were selected from one year of improvised sessions recorded in a pitch-black room with psychedelic projections à la Andy Warhol’s Exploding Plastic Inevitable show with the Velvet Underground. While the record was initially met with poor commercial response, it’s gone on to become one of their most influential works (alongside 1991's Laughing Stock), paving the way for British art-rock bands like Radiohead and Elbow a few years later. 6 tracks total; high-quality 180g German import pressing.
