Live performance from pioneering minimalist composer Terry Riley. Songs For The Ten Voices Of The Two Prophets was originally recorded in 1982 in Munich using two Prophet 5 synthesizers and Riley's voice. The recordings combine improvisation, electronic music, and the raga vocal stylings of Riley's mentor, Pandit Pran Nath. It appears to be the first release that Riley used the Prophet 5 synthesizer on, having largely used a Yamaha organ on previous recordings. The breadth of sounds and textures he is able to squeeze out of the synth is worth the price of admission alone. Released by Beacon Sound on black vinyl housed in a reproduction of the original sleeve with a printed insert.
