Fifth studio album from alt-pop icons, The Breeders. All Nerve finds the original lineup of the band reuniting for the first time since 1993's Last Splash. And while there isn't anything quite as quirky and catchy as "Cannonball" or as cheeky as "Divine Hammer," there's plenty to like about the album. They fortunately avoid trying to recreate the past, instead opting for each member to play to their individual strengths. The Deal sisters trade off harmonies with ease, Wiggs expertly handling bass and backing vocals, and Macpherson keeping the beat persistent. It seems as if The Breeders are right at home with each other, unconventional hooks, macabre lyrics and all. Eleven tracks in all. Released by 4AD on indie exclusive orange vinyl with a printed insert and a digital download.
