  • Eleventh studio album from English post-punkers The Fall. I Am Kurious Oranj was originally recorded in 1988 and was intended as the soundtrack for the ballet I Am Curious, Orange, produced by contemporary dance group Michael Clark & Company. Although frontman Mark E. Smith was increasingly dependent on alcohol and speed, and his relationship with Brix Smith was falling apart, the band turned in one of their strongest efforts. Ironically, this is the album where Brix Smith's musicality really started to shine. The music, written by Brix and bassist Steve Hanley, is as powerful as anything the band has released in its long history. Mark E. Smith's lyrics take veiled jabs at Brix, particularly on "Bad News Girl." For a good taste of what to expect checkout "New Big Prinz," "Overture From 'I Am Curious Orange'," and "Wrong Place, Right Time." Ten tracks in all. Released by Beggars Banquet on orange vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with a replica of the original ballet program.
