Heavy instrumental funk from San Diego's The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble! The 9-piece band starts off the 7" by covering Roy Ayers's "Aragon," and the 1973 classic from the Coffy soundtrack is revitalized w/ a powerful horn lead and charged up drumming. Flip the 45 over for "El Nino," an original composition from the Ensemble, and the track, slower in tempo, is gritty, moody, and imbuing with that heavy funk the San Diego outfit is known for.
