Jamie xx remixing his/his band's work? Not surprising at all, and on this 12", he reinterprets "On Hold," the lead single from The xx's latest full-length, I See You. The Hall & Oates-sampling jam is already dancefloor friendly, but the producer works the filters and chops up the vocals for a version teeming w/ that signature Jamie xx brilliance, it really seems that he can do no wrong. On the flip is Four Tet, who gets busy w/ another standout track from I See You, "A Violent Noise." The chilled-out, melodic tune is refitted tech-ed out for the dancefloor, but FT manages to maintain the vibe of the original.
