It's hard to go wrong with Thelonious Monk. His ability to take a simple phrase and squeeze the most out of it is unmatched. Monk takes cuts from two sessions, one from 1953 and another from 1954. Each were originally individually released as 10" LPs before being combined for this full length. Notable appearances come from Sonny Rollins on tenor sax, bassist Percy Heath and drummer Art Blakey.
