Must have 7" for the fans! Canada's Tobias Jesso Jr. delivers melancholic lines over soft and subtle instrumentation. He's won over fans and critics with his 2015 debut album, Goon, carrying traces of Paul McCartney and Randy Newman over the pearly whites of his piano. With this 7" for True Panther Sounds he drops an alternate version of album standout, "Without You." First performed on Conan O'Brien's late night talk show, the song is now adorned with buttery smooth strings. It was something that Jesso and producer Ariel Rechtshaid had originally wanted to do with the song, but came up short in the budget and time department before the album's release. Joining "Without You" is the previously unreleased sentimental confessional, "True Love." It's probably the best thing he's released since Goon.
