  • Say What?! One of the nastiest go-go drum breaks ever put on wax, now in the handy 45 format. Trouble Funk's "Pump Me Up" is a pure shot of unadulterated funk from Washington D.C., a prime example of the regional go-go style that has been sampled by everyone (and i mean everyone) from Public Enemy, Kurtis Blow, and M/A/R/R/S, to Squarepusher, and even George Michael. Obviously the drums are the big attraction here, but the vocals ("Pump pump pump me up!") has become somewhat of a scratch standard as well. You already know what to do, cop doubles and run that break! "Let's Get Small" on the flip, another equally funky and heavily sampled bomb from the D.C. innovators.
