Italo heat alert! NYC's Alliance Upholstery label doing it up once again with a critical reissue of Veronique's 1987 dance floor burner "Jungle Man." The track is a sizzling cover of Kongo Band's "Afrikan Man" with the cheese skimmed off the top and a driving Italo-NRG twist (complete with theme-appropriate "OOH-AAYE-OOHS" to keep it pumping). The original mix does the trick, but for my buck it's all about the "Guitar Man" version - a mostly instrumental version that injects some funky disco guitar and vocoder stabs into the mix. Also includes a Jaz Edit of "Jungle Man" that cuts to the chase of the groove. Recommended.
