Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers’ highly anticipated full-length debut! It’s been a while since an indie-rock act has seen the level of overnight success of Wet Leg. When the lead-single “Chaise Longue” came out last summer, it was seemingly everywhere–the mix of effortlessly catchy licks and wry lyrics made for an instant classic. Iggy Pop, Dave Grohl, and Elton John all sang their praises for the duo from the Isle of Wight (ed. note: just looked this up, apparently it's the second largest English island, after... England), Domino Records signed them, and Radiohead’s management scored them as a client, leading to internet debates on whether or not the band was an “industry plant.” However, on the self-titled record, Wet Leg proves the buzz is rightfully deserved. Channeling a mixture of post-punk and britpop the band provides a witty, somewhat cynical look at modern culture through the lens of ‘90s nostalgia a la Pulp, Pavement, and The Breeders. 12 tracks on black vinyl.
