Marking 20 years since their debut album, 'Star Wars' backs up its surprise free download release with this indie-exclusive white vinyl pressing (or black vinyl for the non-Lab shopping customers). When you're 11 albums deep with classics such as Yankee Foxtrot in the pocket, it takes a clear mind to assess the notes coming out of the speaker. I smoked a bowl, sat in a leather chair shaped as a baseball mitt and I dug into the eleven, succinct 3 minute tracks (the mark of an assured artist). The recording presents textures that only a lifetime of collecting vintage gear (and an expensive studio) can present, sounding especially good coming through the combination stylus and speakers. Is it Foxtrot... Ghost... or Summer Teeth? Who cares? It's still Wilco (and this leather chair smells good).
