Who got the funk? Will Sessions got the funk, without a doubt! The Motor City-based band has been holding it down for a minute now with fiery vinyl-only 45's on Funk Night Recs, in addition to backing up everyone from Danny Brown, Mayer Hawthorne, Black Milk, and Dennis Coffey. Now with Mix Takes 3/4, the Detroit funksters complete what they started with 2012's Mix Takes 1/2 with live covers of their favorite funk and soul jams seamlessly played together onto two takes of continuous, unadulterated funk (about 18 min. per side). If you already heard Mix Takes 1/2 (which focused on their favorite hip-hop cuts), then you already know these cats don't play! Pressed up on super-heavyweight vinyl with full pic sleeve. Recommended.
