Here's an excerpt from our 2007 Lab review to demonstrate how eternal this 1995 rave anthem from Josh Wink is: "It was old Lab custom to create some random exclamation when we get classic reissues as big as this... BUMBLEFUGLIONI!!! Yes, this is a big'un right here, and a definite indicator that the rave scene is officially cracked. 'Higher State Of Consciousness' is one of the defining tracks of the genre and a definite precursor to all Ed Banger-type stuff coming out right now. But after all these years, it still remains peerless when it comes to build-up and resulting mayhem; there's something very organic about it; that squiggly hits straight to medulla and causes involuntary reactions. I always preferred the breakbeat Tweekin Acid Funk verison featured here (vs. the original Hardhouse mix)." 2020 repress on acid-fried white and red colored wax, recommended.
