Unreleased material from enigmatic Brighton based electro-acoustic duo, Woo! The group, comprised of brothers Mark and Clive Ives, has been making music for over four decades. They've largely flown under the radar, their first release Whichever Way You Are Going, You Are Going Wrong dropping when punk and new wave were in vogue. However, over the past few years, their back catalog has gained a cultish following with reissues on Drag City and Emotional Rescue. Their music has drawn comparisons to groups like Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Animal Collective, Cluster and Brian Eno, and you can easily hear why. Awaawaa features never before heard recordings from Woo's archives, some of their most psychedelic and synthesizer heavy work. The brother's worked closely with Palto Flats' Jacob Gorchov to compile unreleased material recorded between 1975 and 1982. It's a timeless collection of atmospheric miniatures that move through synth, ambient, electronics, dub, and a little krautrock. Sixteen tracks in all. Released by Palto Flats. Recommended.
