Debut studio album from experimental avant-garde artist Yoko Ono. Yoko Ono / Plastic Ono Band was recorded at the same time as John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band album and features the same musicians from that session. Ringo Starr, Klaus Voormann and Lennon are all present, as well as Ornette Coleman on the cathartic, free jazz inspired "AOS." This album helped set the stage for the many experimental rock records that appeared in its wake. It's hard to imagine bands like Sonic Youth and Swans, and the whole no wave scene existing without this album setting the stage. There are songs here, but the feel is of a heavy jam session with Ono's improvised vocals adding a primal edge to the proceedings. Although the album may have been poorly received by critics when it was released, its impact is undeniable. Six tracks in all. Released by Secretly Canadian on clear vinyl with an 8 page photo booklet, black & white foldout poster and digital download.
