  • Third studio album from Boise, Idaho's Youth Lagoon. Savage Hills Ballroom was was recorded in Bristol, England and sees Trevor Powers opening up more than he ever has. The young vocalist seems more vulnerable than ever, his emotions laid bare. He's removed the reverb and other effects that clouded over his voice, and now we can hear what he really sounds like. Instead of continuing to toy with the vocal ticks of Ween and The Flaming Lips he's moving through the freak folk forest inhabited by the likes of Joanna Newsom and Devendra Banhart. Layers of drums, horn sections and noise bolster his position throughout the album. Includes the songs: "Officer Telephone," "Rotten Human," and "The Knower." Ten tracks in all. Released by Fat Possum Records on gold vinyl with gatefold sleeve.
