Lab Overview

Following up 2018’s Never Come Down, Raleigh hip-hop crew Kooley High's latest EP contains three new tracks (“Hold Up,” “Rollin’ In The Hay,” and “Lazy Sunday”) as well as Statik Selektah’s remix of the titular track. Alongside the Kooley High regulars—MCs Charlie Smarts and Tab-One, producers Sinopsis and Foolery, and DJ Ill Digitz—“Rollin’ in the Hay” also features verses from Eric G. and GQ, and Brooklyn-based vocalist Melanie Charles shines on the Statik Selektah remix. As the title suggests, the laidback boom-bap beats and heady lyrics make for the perfect soundtrack to a chill Sunday afternoon (I got a bunch of weekend chores done while I reviewed this). DJ-friendly 180g vinyl edition contains the original versions on side A and instrumentals on side B; 8 tracks in total with nice, thick grooves on both sides for scratching.
