Digital-only burner from Jaar pseudonym finally pressed on vinyl. Released out of the blue in February of 2018, 2012-2017 is a quasi-compilation of tracks that showcase Nicolas Jaar's ability to create a more inviting techno sound for the uninformed listener than his previous avant-garde techno soundscapes (peep his bonkers 2012 debut release Space Is Only Noise for a healthy primer into leftfield). Finally available on vinyl, this sample-soaked homage is filled to the brim with classic soul, house, funk loops to make you move no matter what situation you find yourself listening to this album in. The tracks are spiced with beefed-up kicks and samples are drenched in reverb and distortion, polished off with the intricate drum chops that allowed Jaar to take the electronic world by storm. From the opening track 'This Old House Is All I Have' sampling David Axelrod, the release is almost like a dig into Jaar's crates, with the added bonus of having the producers talents and idiosyncrasies take shape in this more traditional context. 11 tracks in all, pressed on 2 LP's. Released by Jaar's label Other People, 2018.
