Julee Cruise's first album, Floating into the Night, included three songs that appeared on the TV show Twin Peaks, "Falling," the series theme, being one of them. The story goes, that while Cruise was working as a talent scout for Angelo Badalamenti on David Lynch's film Blue Velvet, the composer heard Cruise and recorded "Mysteries of Love" with her, and three years later, the singer's debut produced by Badalamenti was realized. If you're a fan of Floating into the Night, Cruise's sophomore album, The Voice Of Love will feel like an extension of it: airy, mesmerizing vocals, beautifully dark dream-pop atmospherics, and the otherworldly and not not creepy compositions from AB. Although the mood stays eerie throughout, various genres are interpolated on The Voice Of Love; check the reggae vibes on "This Is Our Night," or the lounge/jazz stylings on "She Would Die for Love" of "Kool Kat Walk." Other highlights include "Questions In A World Of Blue" and "Up In Flames - Live."
