Released only a month after Pearl Jam's Ten and on the same day as Nirvana's Nevermind (Alice in Chains' Facelift dropped earlier in 1990), Soundgarden's 3rd album, Badmotorfinger is a seminal grunge record. Terry Date, the producer behind Louder Than Love, worked on the LP. Badmotorfinger is noted for its cerebral quality, all the while the band maintains it's heavy metal sound heard in previous projects, and Soundgarden experiments with alternative tunings and irregular time signatures throughout the 12-tracker. The songwriting is vague, and it is meant to conjure up different kinds of images. "Rusty Cage" and "Outshined" are the obvious picks, but also check out "Jesus Christ Pose," "Searching With My Good Eye Close," and "Mind Riot."
