Ahh-zhyah, it's Shorty the Pimp time. Don't gotta say much about Too $hort that you don't already know. His flow is so laidback, everyone from little kids to the hardest thugs can't deny the power. When this was released in 92, songs like, "In The Trunk" and "I Want To Be Free" were already hot Billboard singles making this Short's third Platinum release. He went on to make platinum three more times after that, which puts him in the "Barry Bonds of Bay Area Rap" category for me. The whole LP is produced primarily by the one and only Ant Banks with that good ol' gangsta P-Funk sound which is so indigenous to the West Coast. For other juicy flavor check, "No Love From Oakland", "Step Daddy", and "Something To Ride To" which features Ant Banks, Pooh Man, and Mhisani in an all out extended west coast poplock jam. Oh yeah, 14 years later, we are still selling out and receiving hot new Too Short singles today. Dude was, and still is, too pimp.
