"Autechre formed in 1991 in Manchester, a product of Rob Brown and Sean Booth’s shared passion for experimental hiphop and electro. As well as broadcasting on pirate radio, they formed part of the Gescom collective and were closely involved with the Skam label. Shortly after their debut album Incunabula, 1993, they relocated to Sheffield where they became one of the central Warp acts, refining and updating their industrially toughened music on albums including Amber, 1994, Tri Repetae, 1995, Chiastic Slide, 1997, and LP5, 1999. The duo continue to push the envelope with each release, coupling musical number crunching and digital rigour with the spirit of on-the-hoof improvisation and the spontaneity of old school street sounds." - Warp Records
